2.) The infamous “madden curse” lives on through Josh Allen

Trust me, I do not want to speak this into existence but it’s reality. This madden curse that has been around for years has affected players who have been on the cover of the newly released Madden football game.

Whether it was injuries or having statistically a bad season, the curse seems to strike each year. Bills quarterback Josh Allen was chosen as the athlete to be on this year’s Madden cover and that should worry Bills fans.

In 2021, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was on the cover of Madden and his 2021 season was a shaky season. He only competed in 12 games, helping Baltimore go 7-5 and throwing for just 16 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. In a season where the Ravens were a super bowl favorite, the Ravens ended up losing to the Bills in the divisional round that season and Jackson was knocked out of the game with a concussion.

In 2020, Patrick Mahomes was picked as the Madden cover athlete and while he did not disappoint statistically, his curse may have kicked in during the super bowl against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Chiefs ended up losing 31-9 and Mahomes threw for 270, 2 interceptions and was pressured on 29 of his 56 dropbacks.

Bills fans should have a little bit of fear of what could potentially happen with Allen because of this curse. If this curse kicks in at a crucial time of the season, the Bills’ season could end yet again in bitter disappointment.
