4 key training camp battles on defense for the Buffalo Bills

1.)  Linebacker - A.J. Klein, Terrel Bernard, Dorian Williams

As of right now, the linebacker position is the weakest out of all the individual units on the defense and even the whole team. The Bills have an All-Pro linebacker in Matt Milano, but not much to show before training camp.

While there is familiarity and potential growth, McDermott will have to keep an extra close eye on this linebacker battle between A.J. Klein, Terrel Bernard and Dorian Williams. Klein has spent many seasons with McDermott in both Carolina and the Bills in 2020 and last season. Bernard was drafted in the third round in 2022, and Williams was drafted in the third round this past draft. 

As the “quarterback” of the defense, it is crucial for whoever is in that role to take command of the defense and rally the guys around him to make those critical stops late in the game.

While all three bring their own skills to training camp, who will step up and become the next leader for the defense? I have a feeling that most, if not all Bills fans will watch this battle throughout training camp as well as the preseason.
