Shaq Leonard

The Buffalo Bills got good news during minicamp as Matt Milano was able to participate in individual drills after suffering a season-ending injury against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5. It looks like Milano will be ready for Week 1 and starting next to Terrel Bernard.

However, as fans saw last year the depth at this position can be tested very quickly. There are new players this year in rookie Edefuan Ulofoshio and veterans Nicholas Morrow and Deion Jones but none are on the same level as Shaq Leonard.

Leonard began his career with four straight All-Pro selections and won the Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2018. The past two seasons haven't been as productive as he played only three games in 2022 and then was waived during the season last year by the Colts and would eventually sign with the Eagles.

Even taking into account the past two seasons, it is surprising that Leonard has not found a new team yet for 2024. It is possible he is looking for a starting spot somewhere and might wait until training camp to sign if a team suffers an injury at the position.

If that doesn't come to fruition, the Bills would be a great landing spot on a one-year deal as it gives Leonard a chance at a Super Bowl ring while solidifying the depth at a key position.
