Ty Johnson

The first player is the one running back the Bills should focus to bring back from last year among their free agents in Ty Johnson. The former Lions and Jets running back played in 10 regular season games and had 30 rushing attempts for 132 yards along with seven receptions for 62 yards and one touchdown.

While the workload wasn't huge, he was very productive with the touches he did get. According to Pro Football Reference, he had a 63.3% success rate on rushing attempts and 71.4% on receptions which measures a success touch as one that picks up 40% of yards on first down, 60% on second down and 100% on third or fourth down needed for a first down.

He is a running back who probably won't be able to replace James Cook if he needs to miss extended time but is an excellent complement to the Pro Bowl back. Ty Johnson also probably could be retained for a veteran minimum contract and this would be a great fit for a team up against the salary cap.
