It was a breakout season for Buffalo Bills' running back James Cook as he had over 1,500 yards from scrimmage and earned a trip to the Pro Bowl. With Joe Brady back as offensive coordinator, Cook should remain as the top running back and one of the better players at the position in 2024.

However, there are some questions after Cook and what the position could look like for the upcoming season. Last season, the Bills had added Damien Harris and Latavius Murray before the season and Nyheim Hines was also expected to factor into the backfield.

Unfortunately, Hines suffered a knee injury in a boating accident and would miss the remainder of the season. Then during the season, Harris suffered a neck injury and he would miss the rest of the year but the Bills elevated Ty Johnson from the practice squad and he had a very strong finish to the year.

Looking ahead to this offseason, Harris, Murray and Johnson are all set to be free agents leaving Cook and Hines as the only players under contract. The big question is whether Hines will be ready for the start to the season so the Bills are going to have to add at least one, maybe two, running backs over the next few months.

These are some free agent running backs the Buffalo Bills could sign to pair with James Cook.
