4 free agent do-overs for the Buffalo Bills from 2022
O.J. Howard
Contract: 1 year, $3.5 million
The final player is one that didn't even make the 53-man roster in tight end O.J. Howard. The Bills signed the former Bucs' tight end with the idea that he would allow the team to run more two-tight end sets.
However, Howard really struggled during the offseason and saw players like undrafted free agent Quintin Morris impress more. One of the do-overs the Buffalo Bills wish they could have back would be to not give Howard a fully guaranteed contract which certainly didn't make it easy to cut him before the season.
Another option that would have been better for the Bills to pursue was Hayden Hurst, who received the same contract amount from the Cincinnati Bengals but only $2 million was guaranteed. In addition, Hurst was productive with the Bengals with 52 receptions, 414 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
It is unlikely that he would have had the same stat line with the Bills with Dawson Knox already on the roster but he absolutely would have given Ken Dorsey the personnel he needed to run two-tight end sets last season.
