4 dream scenarios for the Buffalo Bills in 2023
By Brandon Ray
4.) The Buffalo Bills sweep the tough AFC East and win the division
It was not too long ago where the Bills did this exact thing. In 2020, the Bills defeated all of their divisional opponents in each meeting by a combined score of 194-111. Not to mention, it was the first season since 2016 where the Bills defeated the New England Patriots in a regular season game. Back in that season, the Bills were a clear favorite to win the division with Tom Brady having moved to Tampa Bay.
The previews of 2020 and 2023 are totally different. The Dolphins have risen to challenge the Bills for the division, the Jets will have a top defense and most if not all their starters from last year and the addition of Aaron Rodgers. Finally, the Patriots will have an actual legitimate offensive play caller in Bill O’Brien who will be looking to help Mac Jones get back to what he was during his rookie season.
The expectations of the Bills have risen even more high than they have ever been because of the success they have had, but now they will not only battle in the conference, but their own division as well. There is an argument for each team in the AFC East winning the division (some more than the other), but the Bills are not clear favorites to win it anymore.
If the Bills can somehow sweep the division again and win their fourth consecutive division title, that should put the doubters into silence while the Bills ride into the playoffs as the true team to beat in the AFC East.
