4 contracts holding the Buffalo Bills back right now entering offseason
Stefon Diggs
The final contract is Stefon Diggs' as his current deal gives the Buffalo Bills almost no options entering this offseason other than hope they can make it work for one more season. Diggs had a tremendous start to the year last season with over 600 receiving yards in the first six games but finished the year with only 563 receiving yards in the final 11 games.
He is paid like one of the top wide receivers in the league and has a cap hit over $27 million. In terms of other players at his position, this is pretty reasonable for a player of his caliber even taking into account how he finished the season.
Unfortunately, the questions have continued to persist about whether or not Stefon Diggs wants to remain with the Bills and this is where the challenges come into play. If Diggs demands a trade or makes it clear he has no interest in playing for Buffalo, the Bills really can't trade him based on his contract as it would result in over $31 million in dead cap and cost an additional $3.2 million in cap space.
There are a number of good wide receivers in free agency and this year's draft class that the Bills could add to replace Diggs. However, it won't really be an option and would set the team back even further if they did move him this offseason.
