James Cook

There should be no confusion here and James Cook will be the lead running back for the Buffalo Bills offense this upcoming season. However, the team has made some notable additions to the position with drafting Ray Davis in the fourth round and then signing Frank Gore Jr. as an undrafted free agent.

In the end, Cook should have the most snaps and touches of any running back on the Buffalo Bills. However, Davis and Gore certainly bring a skill set that works well in this offense and offensive coordinator Joe Brady would be wise to make sure they are part of the game plan.

Davis in particular is a player that should be heavily showcased near the goal line and in short-yardage situations. He is a running back who can keep defenses off balance because he not only can run up the middle but is a good pass catcher out of the backfield which will keep defenses honest and have to account for those play-action plays with him running into the flat.

This past season, Cook had 55% of the offensive snaps and it wouldn't be surprising to see that total dip a bit to around or just under 50% with the new additions at the position.
