There is no question that the outcome for the Buffalo Bills in Week 1 against the New York Jets was disappointing. This team has plenty to improve during a short week ahead of their home opener against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday in Week 2.

The negatives are certainly going to outweigh the positives from this game but there are some positives that can be taken from the Bills' first game of the 2023 season. These were four players who impressed with their performance against the New York Jets.

Matt Milano

For the better part of five years, the Buffalo Bills have had Matt Milano and Tremaine Edmunds as their linebackers. Edmunds seemed to overshadow Milano early in their career but recently Milano has developed into one of the top linebackers in the game.

The Bills committed to Milano this offseason by giving him a contract extension while seeing Tremaine Edmunds leave in free agency. It is certainly early but Milano continues to validate the confidence the franchise has in him.

He finished the game with eight tackles, one tackle for a loss, and one interception. The performance doesn't always get the credit it should because it is seemingly a weekly occurrence from him. However, he is the key piece of this defense and will need to pick up the slack with inexperienced linebackers next to him.
