At one point, the Buffalo Bills defense looked to be one of the best in the NFL and seemed like they were only going to get better with the eventual return of defensive end Von Miller. Unfortunately, in the past two weeks the defense has had to deal with a number of injuries.
In Week 4 against the Dolphins, it began with Tre'Davious White suffering a season-ending Achilles injury. Entering Week 5, the starting lineup not only was missing White but had Greg Rousseau and Christian Benford inactive as both were dealing with injuries from the week prior.
Then during the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Bills defense had Matt Milano, DaQuan Jones, and Taron Johnson all leave at points. Fortunately, Johnson was able to return but the injuries suffered by Milano and Jones are long-term injuries that will keep them out for most, if not all, of the 2023 season.
While the Bills may not remain one of the best defenses in the league, they will still be very good. They have great depth and these are four players who are going to have bigger roles moving forward for this group.
