Buffalo Bills will draft more defensive players than offensive players

The focus has been on the wide receiver position but when the NFL Draft is complete, the Buffalo Bills will end up with more defensive players than offensive players. The Bills are almost certain to add one wide receiver, maybe two, along with a running back on Day 3 and then maybe some depth on the offensive line.

However, after that the focus really should be on the defensive side of the ball. The front office could stand to add more depth at every position on this part of the roster starting up front across the defensive line.

The Bills brought back players like A.J. Epenesa and DaQuan Jones while signing free agents Casey Toohill, Austin Johnson and Deshawn Williams. However, the free agent additions shouldn't stop the team from bringing in more depth to compete.

While the Bills could add a linebacker as a backup to replace Tyrel Dodson or play special teams, the secondary could be part of the roster that could see three new additions. The Bills appear to have their replacements for Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde with Taylor Rapp and Mike Edwards but Edwards only signed a one-year deal. If the Bills could add Cooper DeJean or Javon Bullard then he would be a long-term answer at the position.

In addition, the Bills may want to add one or two cornerbacks on Day 3 based on Brandon Beane's track record of picking players like Siran Neal, Taron Johnson, and Dane Jackson. If the Bills end up using all 10 of their draft picks, the defense could end up with six or more of them.
