3.) Taylor Rapp - Safety

Even when Jordan Poyer and the Bills agreed on a contract to bring back the All-Pro safety, the Bills still managed to sign Taylor Rapp to add to their safety room two weeks later. Rapp spent the last four seasons with the Rams in which he played a mixture of safety and linebacker, which brings versatility to the defense.

He also managed to bring in 300 combined tackles and nine interceptions in four seasons. Depending on the defensive scheme that Sean McDermott wants to run, Rapp could be all over the field when he is in the game.

There is no doubt that Poyer and Micah Hyde will be the starters, but Rapp is an excellent depth player who can rotate in for the two star safeties. Rapp is on a prove-it deal with the Bills so there should be no doubt that he makes the best of his opportunities.

McDermott’s specialty on the defensive side is the defensive backs. Rapp should be able to excel in this scheme in 2023.
