Rasul Douglas played like a number one cornerback

The final reason the Buffalo Bills could consider releasing Tre'Davious White is that they already have a cornerback on the roster that could replace him as the top corner in this defense. The Bills made a trade right before the deadline for Rasul Douglas with the Green Bay Packers.

The move worked out better than probably anyone could have expected as Douglas was excellent down the stretch. In nine games, Douglas had four interceptions, two forced fumbles, and eight passes defended.

He is now entering the final year of his contract but with Douglas and Christian Benford, it gives the Buffalo Bills two cornerbacks that could certainly get the job done.

The presence of Douglas also creates an opportunity for the Bills to be patient with White; they could let him rehab and only return once fully recovered. However, with the big cap hit and the potential cap space savings, it is a move they might consider.
