2.) Damar Hamlin as a potential cut candidate?

The fact that this was mentioned as a possibility seems ridiculous. After going into cardiac arrest last season after a freak collision with Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins, Damar Hamlin has set himself up to potentially win Comeback Player of the Year when he steps onto the field this season.

There has been speculation that Hamlin might be a cut candidate, like this article from Sports Illustrated, which discusses how Hamlin may want to be treated like any other player competing for a roster spot going into week one.

In no way should this be a consideration. Even with the Bills re-signing Jordan Poyer and bringing in Taylor Rapp in free agency at the safety position, Hamlin knows the scheme and started in 13 games last season where he had 91 total tackles.

Sean McDermott knows how important defensive backs are and you can never have too many of them in today’s NFL era, where it is a pass-first league. Expect Hamlin to be wearing number three as the Bills enter MetLife on prime time.
