2.) The rise of James Cook in the Buffalo Bills offense

When the Bills drafted Cook in the second round of the 2022 draft, he was viewed as a great pass-catching back that could open up the field for the Bills offense. With a little bit of a rough start to his career with his first carry resulting in a fumble, Cook has come a long way to being featured as a great back for the Bills.

All signs point to Cook taking the lead in the backfield, but with the committee of him, Damien Harris, and Latavius Murray, not all the pressure will have to go on Cook. In fact, with Harris and Murray being the in-between the tackles ball carriers, this will allow Cook to play out wide and take in passes from the backfield to make a play.

In training camp, Cook has been utilized for a majority of the offensive reps and has even said that one of his main focuses in training camp is to keep building chemistry with Josh Allen. In addition, Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey has also mentioned that Cook may end up being a three-down back at some point.

Heading into his second season with the team, Cook should be able to have his talents utilized properly that can help the Bills’ run game and give Allen an option on the outside rather than down the field.
