Not too long ago, the Buffalo Bills had a big need at wide receiver heading into the 2024 NFL Draft. Weeks before the draft, the Bills made the shocking move to trade Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans and Josh Allen no longer had a No. 1 receiver on the team. The Bills pretty much needed to draft a receiver with their first pick in that draft.
On the first night of the draft, the Bills had the 28th pick and instead of staying put there, they made an even more shocking move to trade it to the Kansas City Chiefs who had the 32nd overall pick. Kansas City used that newly acquired pick to select Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy.
The Bills would then trade out of the 32nd pick with the Carolina Panthers who drafted Xavier Legette, but Buffalo kicked off the second round by drafting Keon Coleman.
While Worthy has not been the star that fans thought he would be with the Chiefs, he has done some damage against Buffalo and you would think the Bills would learn their lesson of not helping the Chiefs on draft night. Well, in a mock draft by Chad Reuter of NFL.com, the Bills make that same mistake which would have fans furious.
Recent NFL mock draft has Bills fans extremely angry
In Reuter’s mock draft, the Bills and Chiefs make a trade that has the Chiefs trading No. 29 overall along with a 4th round pick in exchange for No. 26 and a 6th round pick. With trading up, Reuter has the Chiefs drafting Alabama offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor. At No. 29, the Bills selected Texas A&M edge rusher Cashius Howell.
"The Bills' new-look defense could use Howell's speed off the edge. Opponents will forget all about his short arms (30 1/4 inches) when he becomes a major pass-rush factor as his rookie campaign progresses." said Reuter.
Getting Howell late in the first round would be a steal for the Bills as he provides an explosive first step off the line and showed that he can get to the quarterback quickly. At the same time, if Bills fans saw Brandon Beane making another trade with the Chiefs that helps them get someone that they want, it would have fans fuming.
The Chiefs currently hold the 9th and 29th picks in the first round, and they are looking to build their roster. They got the 29th pick from the Rams as part of the Trent McDuffie trade.
If Buffalo were to trade out of 26th overall, that would be fine. But to do it with the Chiefs moving up, or should I say the team that the Bills can’t beat in the playoffs, would rightfully have fans angry and Brandon Beane would have some serious explaining to do.
