Tonight is the night that lives will change forever as prospects will be hearing their names called as they get drafted into the NFL. Outside of Fernando Mendoza going to Las Vegas first overall, this draft has plenty of question marks on where prospects could end up. It’s all part of the excitement for fans, but it can be a stressful time for players and teams.

The Buffalo Bills are in no position to trade up in the first round. If they do, it will be a massive surprise. They will head into tonight’s draft with the 26th overall pick and since they don’t have a second rounder, the most likely scenario that fans could see is them trading back. If the Bills can gain draft picks this year, and possible even a pick for next year, it would be a wise decision to make.

Buffalo could also stay put and either take the best player available, or address a need that they have. Focusing on the defense, they need another edge rusher or two. Greg Rousseau is moving to outside linebacker opposite of Bradley Chubb, so they need someone who can line up off the edge. Well, in a mock draft written by Jason La Canfora of FanSided.com, the Bills get an underrated pass rusher.

Bills defense gets extra boost at EDGE in NFL mock draft

In this mock, La Canfora has the Bills drafted Clemson edge rusher, T.J. Parker, who is a sneaky good prospect that Buffalo could snag at the end of the first round.

If Parker was coming into the NFL in last year’s draft, he would have had a shot at being a potential Top 10 pick. In 2024, Parker had 11 sacks to go with 57 total tackles, and 6 forced fumbles. He was one of the best players in college that season, but then his production dropped a bit last season. He had just 5 sacks to go with 37 total tackles.

A little bit of a drop last season shouldn’t scare off Buffalo if they are interested in him. He is a pure pass-rusher, which is what the Bills need. While Bradley Chubb is a pass rusher himself, the Bills need more than just him. Greg Rousseau is primarily a run-stopper, but a very solid one.

Getting a player like Parker late in the first round can be a potential steal considering the production that he put together in college. If he can adapt to Jim Leonhard’s defensive scheme and grow as time goes on, the Bills may just have a player who can be a star sooner than later.
