The 2025 season will forever be remembered as an extremely weird season. Successful teams struggled, players who had not been playing at a high level were playing at an MVP level, young quarterbacks were playing well-beyond their limited years in the league. There were a lot of things that happened that had fans scratching their heads in confusion.

Even with the Buffalo Bills, they managed to finish 12-5 and yet they lost the AFC East to the New England Patriots and went into the playoffs as the 6th seed. While that was a weird sighting to see, it certainly wasn’t the weirdest one.

Buffalo’s biggest conference rival; the Kansas City Chiefs, dealt with injuries across the board (including with Patrick Mahomes who tore his ACL), and their play was average at best even before Mahomes had the injury. Not only did Kansas City miss out on the playoffs, they finished at 6-11 which is the complete opposite of what they normally finish.

Going into this coming week’s NFL Draft, the Chiefs already had the 9th overall pick but then they acquired the 29th pick from the Los Angeles Rams as part of the Trent McDuffie trade. With them having a top ten pick, they will have the opportunity to draft one of the top prospects which is very rare.

NFL Draft prediction has Chiefs gaining huge WR help (and Bills fans should be worried)

John Blair from NFL Mocks is predicting that the Chiefs will draft USC wide receiver Makai Lemon, who is one the top wideout prospects in this draft class. If that scenario were to happen, it should have Bills fans nervous for the immediate and long-term future.

"He’s the clear top receiver on my board and a legitimate No. 1 option from day one. Kansas City needs a dependable go-to target for Patrick Mahomes, and Lemon brings exactly that with his route running, reliability, and playmaking ability. This pick immediately raises the ceiling of the Chiefs’ offense and gives Mahomes the true alpha receiver they’ve been missing." said Blair.

While Carnell Tate is getting the recognition as the top wide receiver in this draft class by the majority of people, Lemon is right up there with Tate and there are times where he played better football.

Both the Chiefs and Bills have a big need at wide receiver, but Kansas City has a better opportunity to draft one of the best ones while Buffalo would have to wait quite awhile in the first round. Each season, fans look forward to seeing the Chiefs and Bills face each other as they go back and forth.

If the Chiefs were to add a dynamic playmaker like Lemon to be paired with Mahomes, that would be a duo that could give opponents a ton of trouble, including Buffalo. Bills fans better hope that Lemon goes off the board before No. 9, or that Kansas City addresses another area of need.
