There is constant news and coverage within the NFL that can impact a team somehow and someway. No matter how you spin it, every sort of trade rumor, draft development, etc. can have an impact on a team.

The Buffalo Bills are no stranger to this kind of setup. Bills fans are used to other teams around them building up and putting the Bills in a bit of a difficult position. However, it’s not always bad either. When Tom Brady left the New England Patriots in 2020, it set the Bills up to finally take the AFC East with Josh Allen and the then-newly acquired Stefon Diggs.

With this upcoming offseason, we already have tons of news about high-profiled players that could be on the move, or atleast want to be on the move. The first big breaking news this offseason was Cleveland Browns’ star pass rusher Myles Garrett requesting a trade out of Cleveland.

The Browns have completely fallen apart since acquiring Deshaun Watson a couple of years ago and now they are set to pick No. 2 in the draft this year and Garrett wants no part of a rebuild. However, the Browns have reportedly said that they have no interest in trading Garrett away. Instead, the Browns are one of the four teams that have shown interest in Los Angeles Rams quarterback, Matthew Stafford, per Albert Breer.

How does this news potentially impact the Bills?

Well, it’s quite simple. With Breer reporting that the Browns are one of the four teams (along with the Steelers, Giants, and Raiders), it shows us that Cleveland is doing whatever it can to bring some immediate stability while also preparing for the future. It ultimately looks like they are trying to do whatever they can to convince Garrett to stay in Cleveland.

Any move that the Browns can pull off that upgrades their roster delivers a little bit of a gut punch to the idea of the Bills managing to trade for Garrett. Now granted, it may take a lot for the Browns to change Garrett’s mind but nothing is impossible. If Cleveland were to acquire Stafford, it would be a massive upgrade at quarterback and it may give Garrett the impression that the Browns could go into a win-now mode.

With this news about Cleveland showing interest in Stafford, it makes the possibility of the Browns trading Garrett away become more unlikely. However, a rumor is just a rumor. It may be nothing at all. At the same time, this will be an interesting story as time goes on because if the Browns can’t improve their roster and Garrett stands his ground with a trade request, the NFL is in for a massive potential trade involving Garrett. Let’s just hope that involves the Bills getting the future Hall of Famer.
