Even though all of the excitement lies ahead of training camp coming up here soon for the Buffalo Bills, fans have a general idea of which players are more than likely entering their final season with the team. Whether it’s due to cap savings or just plain out pressure from lack of production, players who are facing make-or-break seasons have to prove that a team needs them.
Every team has players that could be entering their final season with their respective team, and some of them might be fan-favorites. The Bills have some veterans who could be running out of the tunnel for the final time as a member of the Bills in 2025.
4 Bills veterans who could be entering last season in Buffalo
LB Matt Milano
At this point, I will be very shocked if Milano is a member of the Bills past the 2025 season. It’s going to hurt a lot of Bills fans as he was a major steal in 2017 and became a star of Buffalo’s defense for a long time. The only major problem with Milano is his durability and willingness to stay healthy.
He’s only had two full seasons where he didn’t miss any games and the last two seasons, he only played in nine regular season games. In 2023, he suffered a leg injury in Week 5 that took him out for the season. Then in 2024, he tore his bicep in training camp that kept him off the field until Week 13.
Earlier this offseason, the Bills and Milano agreed to a contract restructure that essentially resulted in him taking a pay cut (but can earn his money back in incentives), and he is set to hit free agency in 2026. Unless Milano becomes an All-Pro like player in 2025, this is more than likely his last season in Buffalo.
CB Tre’Davious White
The Bills and Tre’Davious White separated in the 2024 offseason when the Bills released him due to salary cap reasons. After a forgettable tenure with the Rams and being traded to the Ravens, White came back to Buffalo on a one-year deal. Early on in his career, the Bills had a star in White as he became one of the best shutdown corners in the game.
White hit some bad luck with injuries at the end of his first go with the Bills with a torn ACL in 2021 and a torn achilles in 2023. It’s hard to imagine White being in Buffalo beyond this coming season as this just seems like a veteran signing for a young cornerback room. As long as the rookies develop over the course of the season, White should only be in Buffalo for just this coming season.
DL DaQuan Jones
I would argue that there might be a chance where DaQuan Jones is released by the Bills before the start of this season, seeing as how the Bills would save $5.5 million on the cap per overthecap.com. However, he’s more than likely going to be on the final roster. Over the last three seasons, Jones has become the best run-stuffer in the middle of the trenches for the Bills.
Last year, the Bills drafted DeWayne Carter and then they traded up not once but twice to draft T.J. Sanders and Deone Walker. Along with having Ed Oliver, Jones is definitely up against a major challenge to being on the team past this coming season.
OL David Edwards
The offensive line for the Bills has become a strong suit over the last year mainly because of health and continuity. One of those players that helped Josh Allen win the MVP award was offensive guard David Edwards, who impressed the coaches so much that he was brought back on a two-year deal last offseason.
As he enters a contract year, he will be looking to get paid atleast one more time but it might not be from the Bills. Buffalo is better off addressing the guard position in the draft and even though it might hurt the continuity, it would be just a lot cheaper to address that position through the draft rather than free agency.
