Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane is always talking about finding ways to improve the roster anyway he can. While the Bills have been strapped for cash the last couple offseason, Beane still finds a way to make signings and trades in order to upgrade the roster.
Beane has made trades here and there that involves players, but he is definitely not afraid to trade during the NFL Draft. Bills fans remember when he didn’t just trade back in last year’s draft with the Kansas City Chiefs from No. 28 to No. 32, but he would then trade out of the first round and send No. 32 to the Carolina Panthers to acquire more draft capital.
During his tenure with the Bills, Beane’s biggest trade that involved a big time player was acquiring wide receiver Stefon Diggs when Buffalo sent a haul of pick to bring Diggs to Orchard Park. It ultimately was the best trade to help the Bills take the step forward in becoming one of the best teams in the league. However, all good things must come to an end.
The Bills are once again faced with some money issues and lack of production that they need to correct. It would not be a surprise to see Beane make some trades, even if it involves a fan favorite player who has done a lot in his tenure with the Bills.
Matt Milano and 2 Buffalo Bills players who could get traded in 2025
LB Matt Milano
It’s really sad to see what has happened in Matt Milano’s last two seasons with the Bills. A season-ending injury in Week 5 of the 2023 season, and then tearing his bicep before the start of the 2024 season that kept him out until Week 13. Milano has had a very tough time staying healthy lately. However, we can’t overlook what Milano has done for the Bills since arriving in 2017.
He has been such an impactful defender for the Bills with the ability to play sideline-to-sideline football and cover tight ends no matter who they are. The former All-Pro has been a big fan favorite for a long time, but like stated before, all good things must come to an end. If not in 2025, then 2026 could definitely be the year that Bills fans get the dreaded notification that Milano is out of Buffalo.
CB Kaiir Elam
The former Florida cornerback has officially become a bust for the Bills and if he is on the roster come September of this season, it will be a major surprise. Kaiir Elam has had a tough time getting into the starting lineup and he couldn’t beat out Christian Benford, who was a sixth-round draft pick in 2022 (who has since become a shutdown corner for the Bills).
Elam has been a healthy scratch for most of his career with the Bills and it’s time for Beane to move on from him before Week 1 of next season. Even though Elam has been a bust, him being on a rookie contract gives the Bills the chance to acquire something like a sixth or seventh round draft pick.
DE A.J. Epenesa
Over the last three seasons, A.J. Epenesa has averaged six sacks per year as an average-to-above average rotational player. From 2022-2023, his presence seemed to be noticed more than in 2024. However, his 2023 season earned him a two-year contract extension with the Bills to keep him around for the short-term.
That’s all it was though, short-term investment. With Epenesa going into another contract year, unless Beane plans on extending Epenesa again, it would make sense to gain some extra draft capital and move on from a player that wouldn’t be in the starting lineup anyways.
