The 2017 NFL Draft brought the Buffalo Bills a player who would not only become a franchise player, but a big-time fan-favorite with a great personality and who contributes a lot to the community of Buffalo. Offensive tackle Dion Dawkins has become an all-time favorite player in Bills history and he’s still in his prime blocking for Josh Allen.
The four-time Pro Bowler has become one of the league’s best secrets over the years, but now he is no longer a secret. Bills fans already knew how great Dawkins was, but now he is getting recognized by others outside of Buffalo.
Dion Dawkins recognized as one of best OTs heading into 2025 season
NFL executives, coaches, and scouts (per Jeremy Fowler from ESPN) recently ranked the best offensive tackles heading into the 2025 season and Dawkins made his top-10 debut at No. 8 ahead of Christian Darrisaw (Vikings) and Andrew Thomas (Giants).
"Dawkins' pressure rate of 7.4% is the third best among left tackles since 2022, which the Bills like. Buffalo has signed him to two extensions since 2020."Jeremy Fowler, ESPN
Dawkins has been extremely reliable throughout his career. He’s missed no more than two games per year. He didn’t miss a single game in his first four seasons and has only missed one game the last two seasons (Week 18 of 2024 season due to being saved for the playoffs).
Dawkins’ extension that he signed with the Bills will keep him through the 2027 season so Bills fans will get plenty of the “Schnowman”s personality and will be hoping that he will continue to protect the franchise.
In addition to Dawkins getting major recognition, Bills’ right tackle Spencer Brown also received some votes as one of the better tackles in the game. Much like Dawkins, Brown was a second-day pick in 2021 and has really grown over the last two seasons under offensive line coach Aaron Kromer.
Buffalo has a great foundation upfront to help protect Allen and both Dawkins and Brown have become cornerstone players for the offense. If they can continue to keep Allen upright and clean in the pocket, this offense will continue to thrive like it did last season.
