Latest criticism directed at Amari Cooper could explain why Bills WR is still unsigned

This is hard to hear.

The Buffalo Bills traded for Amari Cooper ahead of the trade deadline last offseason and didn't quite put together the kind of performances that Bills fans were hoping for. While the newly-acquired receiver had a solid game against the Rams, he didn't bring the firepower to the offense that was expected of him.

Cooper finished his brief Bills stint with 20 receptions for 297 yards and two touchdowns during the regular season and just six catches for 41 yards in the playoffs. In other words, he left a lot more to be desired.

One full week into free agency and Cooper is still unsigned and now we might know why. While responding to a Commanders account on X about how the team should consider Cooper, NFL analyst Matthew Berry didn't pull punches.

"Amari is done. That's not me talking. That's from an offensive coach of a former team of his I spoke to at the Combine," Berry posted on X. Oooooof.

Former coach of Amari Cooper's said he "is done"

After watching Cooper in limited action with the Bills, this wouldn't be all that surprising to be honest. Cooper is entering his age-31 season and he's been in the league since 2015 when the Raiders spent the fourth overall pick on him in that year's draft.

Cooper has bounced around the NFL, playing for the Raiders for four years, the Cowboys for four years, the Browns for three years, and then the Bills for a brief time before re-entering the free agent market. If this quote from a former coach is why Cooper is knowledge that the rest of the league knows, maybe that's why Cooper is still waiting to find his next home in the NFL.

The Bills could end up bringing Cooper back on a cheap one-year "prove it" deal but they have a decent looking group at wide receiver. Khalil Shakir is back as is Keon Coleman and they signed Josh Palmer as well. That being said, the more weapons for Josh Allen, the merrier, even if Cooper is aging.
