If the Buffalo Bills pick up where they left off last season in terms of offense, they could be looking to replace Joe Brady who has a great chance at becoming a head coach next offseason. Ever since Brady took over the offense after the firing of Ken Dorsey in the middle of the 2023 season, Buffalo’s offense has been one of the best in the league.
Now granted, it does help that Josh Allen is the one under center. However, there was not a lot of believers in the Bills’ offense because of them losing both Gabe Davis and Stefon Diggs prior to the 2024 season. A lot of people were saying that the Bills would take a step back and lose control of the AFC East.
Instead, the Bills put up 525 points in the regular season (with the majority coming from the offense) and had 12 games with 30+ points.
With the “everybody eats” offense, Brady has become one of the best playcallers in the game and was getting looked at for head coaching opportunities last winter. He was a serious candidate for the New Orleans Saints, but then withdrew from the process to stay in Buffalo for atleast one more season.
Latest ESPN would set Joe Brady up to be big-time head coaching hire for 2026
Mike Clay from ESPN created NFL projections, power rankings, and Super Bowl predictions heading into the regular season and one of the projections was seeing which team would be the highest-scoring. Clay is projecting that the Bills would be the highest-scoring team with 481 points. Behind the Bills were the Ravens (473 points) and Eagles (452 points). Here’s a bit on what Clay said about this projection for the Bills:
"The Bills haven't led the NFL in scoring since 1990, but they've been close during the Josh Allen era, ranking no lower than sixth each of the past five seasons (top-three four times). This season, the reigning NFL MVP is set up with a solid (and perhaps improved) supporting cast, led by RB James Cook, WR Khalil Shakir, second-year WR Keon Coleman, TE Dalton Kincaid and newcomer WR Joshua Palmer."Mike Clay, ESPN
Despite the Bills putting up 525 points last season, they finished second behind the Detroit Lions (564 points). While the Bills’ defense is more of the uncertainty with all of the moves Brandon Beane made this offseason, the offense should have no issue picking up where they left off.
Buffalo faces a lot of pressure to win the Super Bowl this year. The good news is that they have a lot of continuity from last season. However, if the Bills repeat history where they get so close but fall short, the continuity may not be there next year if Brady leaves for a head coaching opportunity.
