While Brandon Beane certainly has had his faults as the general manager of the Buffalo Bills, he has delivered some impactful players that have helped the Bills become contenders year-in and year-out. In the 2022 NFL Draft, Beane delivered a strong draft class that included wide receiver Khalil Shakir.

During his sophomore season in 2023, Shakir emerged as a go-to weapon for Josh Allen once Joe Brady took over the offense for Ken Dorsey. With the implementation of an “everybody eats” offense under Brady, Shakir managed to take advantage of it and solidify his role as the team’s main slot receiver.

For the past two seasons, Shakir has had atleast 95 targets and he hasn’t had less than 72 receptions. Shakir has been one of those receivers that Allen can go to when the offense is in a crucial situation. He doesn't drop many passes, making him very reliable.

Even with the addition of DJ Moore. Shakir should still very well be a great option for the passing attack. The only real issue that Shakir could run into as far as targets is sharing them with tight end Dalton Kincaid.

Latest Khalil Shakir stat reminds fans the value he has in Buffalo's offense

Going into this upcoming season, it’s important to remember the value that Shakir brings to this offense. It is not just about the receptions or being open in crucial moments, it’s also about what he does after the catch. According to Pro Football Focus (PFF) on X, Shakir ranked second in wide receivers who forced missed tackles on receptions in the 2025 season. The only receiver ahead of him was Puka Nacua.

Shakir is shifty when he plays and he can make defenders miss with the ball in his hands. With the way that Brady operates the offense, Shakir has a high chance at always being open and making the plays for the offense.

Knowing that Shakir is one of the best at making defenders miss should make fans excited for what he can do, knowing the weapons that the Bills added on offense.

This offense is going to be fun to watch. While there have been additions (and subtractions), there is a great amount of continuity as well. The hope is that Shakir can continue his production that he has had, and even have a few more splash plays as well.
