Brandon Beane recently spoke on WGR550 and discussed how there were team that “reached out about Keon Coleman between the Combine and owner’s meetings”, but Beane said that any interest for Coleman was shut down per Sal Capaccaio. Beane sounded like he was confident in what Coleman could bring in 2026 to the Bills after a rough season last year.
However, this is the NFL. One thing can be said one week, and the complete opposite actually happens the following week. There are very, and I mean very few scenarios that are pretty much guarenteed in the NFL. Beane could say that the Bills have great plans for Coleman, but then something could come up to where Coleman is no longer a Bill.
The Bills traded for D.J. Moore in March and then drafted Skyler Bell in the 4th round of the NFL Draft. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that Coleman is in roster trouble…right now. Coleman is going into the third year of his rookie contract and with Joe Brady now being his head coach, maybe Coleman does take a step forward.
At the same time, if there is a world where the Bills are ever thinking that Coleman is not part of the long-term future in Orchard Park, it would make complete sense for them to move on from him sooner than later. If they decide not to, they take the risk of Coleman losing even more value.
Listed potential trade suitors for Keon Coleman makes sense for Bills to make a deal
Kristopher Knox from Bleacher Report listed Coleman on a trade block big board with the NFL Draft officially being over, and Knox as the Tennessee Titans and Las Vegas Raiders as potential suitors for the third-year receiver.
"Coleman isn't a player who is likely to be moved immediately in the wake of the draft. However, receiver-needy teams should keep tabs on the 22-year-old and try to make a move over the summer." said Knox.
This statement does make sense. Right now, Buffalo doesn't have a reason to trade Coleman now. Instead, Buffalo should see how he does this summer and see if there is any progress that was made from last season. If Coleman gets outplayed by his teammates, the Bills need to strongly consider making the call of getting some value for Coleman, even if it’s a later round pick.
Both the Titans and Raiders could use a little bit of an upgrade at receiver and they would be able to get a receiver who does have talent, but hasn’t lived up to the expectations that the Bills have because they are in a Super Bowl bubble. Clearly, Tennessee and Las Vegas are not championship contenders right now so they could use Coleman to see what he could bring them long-term.
We will obviously hear about Coleman’s progress during the summer and if there isn’t any major improvement on his end, then people are going to be talking on whether or not the Bills should move on from him.
