The Buffalo Bills are at a point in their franchise where all of the changes that they have gone through can lead to even more changes for the next few years to come. When Sean McDermott was fired two days after Buffalo’s playoff exit, things were guaranteed to change within the coaching staff and the roster.

With all of the roster changes (both additions and subtractions), as well as the direction that the Bills went in the NFL Draft, there is no doubt that it’s a new era in Orchard Park. One change that many people thought was coming involved wide receiver Keon Coleman, who struggled on and off the field due to maturity concerns last season, and people thought that Coleman was as good as gone.

General manager Brandon Beane recently talked about how they are setting the reset button for Coleman and have confidence in him going into the 2026 season. Then again, anyone can say anything, but all that matters is what happens on the field.

Keon Coleman faces make or break season with Bills in 2026

Tyler Sullivan from CBS Sports listed the Bills’ biggest post-draft question that they have to answer and it’s very simple; "Can Keon Coleman save his career?"

"In the aftermath of firing Sean McDermott, Coleman caught a stray from owner Terry Pegula, who noted that it was the coaching staff that pushed for the team to draft him instead of GM Brandon Beane. At the time, it felt like that was the nail in Coleman's coffin regarding his tenure with the Bills. However, the receiver remains with the team at this stage, and it appears like he'll be on board for 2026 as they move forward with head coach Joe Brady." said Sullivan.

Since Coleman is only in his third year of his rookie contract, it’s very hard to see the Bills trading him away. Not to mention, who knows if there is another team that is willing to trade for him. If Joe Brady wasn’t promoted to head coach, then maybe Coleman wouldn’t be on the Bills right now. However, it looks like Coleman will spend atleast another year in Bills blue.

At the same time, the Bills’ additions of D.J. Moore and Skyler Bell do put pressure on Coleman to make an impact especially since you have Khalil Shakir and Joshua Palmer as well. If he doesn’t come through sooner than later for Buffalo, his tenure with the team may come to an end at some point in the near-future.
