No matter who the Buffalo Bills decide to hire as their next head coach, they are going to have some big shoes to fill. While Sean McDermott could not get over the playoff hump to get to the Super Bowl, he brought joy back to Western New York when kickoff occurred as the Bills were turned into a winning program under him.

However, McDermott’s inability to get to a Super Bowl despite having Josh Allen plays a big role as to why the Bills are now looking for a new head coach.

Early Wednesday morning, the Bills’ candidates that they were interested in talking with were getting released. One of them is Brian Daboll who was Buffalo’s offensive coordinator from 2018-2021. After helping Josh Allen become one of the best quarterbacks in the league during that time, Daboll became the head coach of the New York Giants but was fired in the middle of this past season.

The Bills officially interviewed Daboll for the job yesterday, as he was the second candidate to talk with Buffalo behind Joe Brady, who is Buffalo’s current offensive coordinator. It would make a lot of sense as to why Daboll could land this job. He is from the area, knows Allen and the Bills, and he had tons of success with the Bills before going to the Giants.

One of Allen's former college teammates, Tanner Gentry, who was also part of the Bills' organization for a brief time, showed his appreciation for Daboll after the Bills announced that they officially talked with Daboll.

"Best offensive mind I've been around, 17 [Josh Allen] loves him, great motivator and cares about his players" said Gentry.

It’s very much split on the idea of Daboll coming back to Buffalo as the head coach, but you can’t deny the great things he did for this offense when he was calling the plays. Not to mention, he and Allen have a great relationship.

While the Bills have to make sure that this hire is best for the entire team and not just Allen, no one should be surprised if the Bills decide to make Daboll Sean McDermott’s replacement.

The Bills will continue to go through their process as they have other candidates lined up, but Daboll has an advantage whether fans want to hear it or not.
