For now the third consecutive game, the Buffalo Bills have been a little bit out of sync. Since Week 4 against the Saints to Monday night’s game against the Falcons, Buffalo’s offense that is operated by Joe Brady does not look like the high-powered offense that we have seen them be.
Aside from that one 46-yard throw down the field from Josh Allen to Joshua Palmer against the Falcons, the offense does not take big swings on offense. They are either relying on the rushing attack or the short-field passing game. However, there are also times where the offense makes some questionable playcalling.
For example, against the New England Patriots, the Bills tried to do a quick handoff to Dawson Knox who fumbled the ball away. Then it was the same thing on Monday night to Elijah Moore on a 4th down rather than just giving Allen the ball himself to move the chains.
While it’s easy to put blame on the players, offensive coordinator Joe Brady deserves some blame too, and he’s making these mistakes at a critical time in his career.
Joe Brady is coaching himself out of a head coaching job with recent performance
There is a strong chance that the Bills could lose Brady to a head coaching job. With the Tennessee Titans already firing Brian Callahan, that could just be the first of many. There are typically a handful of opportunities each season and Brady was a strong consideration for the New Orleans Saints’ job last season until he withdrew from the process.
However, if Brady continues to try and create magic that just backfires on him, it could cost him some serious consideration to take charge of his own team.
It’s still early in the season and luckily we know that the way the offense has been playing isn’t the standard, but now it’s hurting the Bills as they are at 4-2 and are now in second place of the AFC East going into their bye week while the Patriots can extend their division lead in Week 7.
