It took one game for Bills to regret avoidable trade deadline blunder

Prior to yesterday’s kickoff down in south beach, it was reported that the Buffalo Bills were the highest bidder to make an offer for Miami Dolphins’ wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, per Tom Pelissero.

According to Pelissero, the Bills had offered the Dolphins a 3rd-round pick in 2026, and then a 1st-round pick in 2027. However, Miami was seeking a 1st-round pick in 2026 and a deal was not able to get done. The Bills were in looking to go all in with this move and providing a better wideout for Josh Allen, but ultimately, it was a fail and now after this Week 10 loss to Miami, it's look very bad on Brandon Beane.

Waddle had been focused on as a player that could have been potentially moved prior to the trade deadline and the Bills took their shot, but couldn’t make it. Now, the Dolphins, who still have Waddle, are celebrating a massive 30-13 win over the Bills where Waddle had 84 yards and a touchdown grab over rookie Maxwell Hairston.

Bills should have offered more to acquire Jaylen Waddle for Josh Allen

If the report from Pelissero did in fact happen, then shame on Brandon Beane for being more worried about a first-round draft pick over the current state of the team. The wide receivers that Buffalo have are not dynamic. Sure, they will make plays here and there but no one fears them. If they would have added someone like Waddle, then it would be a different conversation.

Not to mention, if Buffalo had acquired Waddle, then maybe Buffalo would be on the winning end of their Week 10 matchup with Miami.

Let’s not forget that Beane blasted the media after the draft with the criticism about not drafting a wideout early on. Now, this shows that not only did he try to bring in extra wideout help, but if the biggest deciding factor was a first-round pick next year instead of the year after, then this is a bad look for the Bills.

It’s too late now for the Bills to try and improve their roster through a trade and they will have to wait until March to make any kind of trade moves to improve the team. This loss to Miami after this news that broke in the morning before kickoff makes it even tougher for Bills fans to accept.
