It took DJ Moore 1 preseason game to show Bills fans why he was the missing piece

We want to see Moore of this.

When the Buffalo Bills made the splash trade this offseason to acquire DJ Moore from the Chicago Bears, they had addressed one of their biggest roster problems that they have had the last two seasons. If you look back at the 2024 and 2025 season, there were plenty of times where the Bills’ offense couldn’t move the ball on offense because of the lack of help on the outside.

Moore may not be that big-name receiver in the league, but he brings a ton of production to the Bills and fans got to see a glimpse of it in Satuday's preseason win over the Carolina Panthers. I never want to overreact to one preseason game, but not only did the Bills starters look nearly perfect, but the duo of Josh Allen and DJ Moore could very well become one of the best in the league.

DJ Moore has already shown signs of major promise in just 1 preseason game

Moore was only part of two drives for the Bills in their first preseason game against the Panthers, but he still managed to reel in 61 yards off of 3 catches (4 targets). One of his catches went for 32 yards in which he looked at a defender and essentially told him to “bring it” as far as contact. Buffalo's new WR1 showed some flash of what's to come, and Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports has a take about Moore that is spot on.

Sullivan recently put together an overreaction/reality list about some players/teams from Week 1 of the preseason, and Sullivan said that it’s a reality that Moore “will supercharge” the Bills’ offense.

"The Bills have been starved for a top receiver ever since trading away Stefon Diggs. Over the last two seasons, Buffalo wide receivers have ranked 21st in receptions, 23rd in receiving yards, and tied for 21st in receiving touchdowns. Despite that, they remained a feared offense because of the presence of Allen and an elite running game led by James Cook. If Moore slots in and brings the Bills' passing game to a more respectable level, the offense as a whole will be supercharged enough to possibly get them back atop the division and finally get over the hump in the AFC." said Sullivan.

From 2020-2023 when the Bills had Stefon Diggs as their No. 1 receiver, the passing game was consistent. It also helped when Gabe Davis was on point and being a big time contributor. For the last two years, the Bills' offense hasn't had that dynamic play on the outside at receiver.

Now with Moore, who is still in his prime and has prior experience playing under Joe Brady from their days in Carolina, his addition just might very well be the move that the offense needed to get to new levels.
