As the NFL free agency period dies down a bit more, the Buffalo Bills still have some areas to address. Of course, the draft is just about a month away and fans are eagerly awaiting one of the most-fun weekends on the league calendar.
But, before we move into full-on 2025 NFL Draft mode, there are still moves to be made in free agency.
The Bills could take advantage of a handful of notable names that make sense for this team, specifically, and what needs they currently have.
Still-available free agents who make sense for the Buffalo Bills
Rasul Douglas, CB
Buffalo has to add depth at cornerback, and of all the players left in free agency, Rasul Douglas seems like one of the most sensible signings to make. Of course, he already knows the defense. He knows the locker room. His length is something that still makes a difference.
While 2024 wasn't his best showing, Douglas is still worth signing as a reserve and someone who can start when needed. His opposing passer rating allowed of 122.0, last season, was the worst of his career. Buffalo could hope that he'll bounce back, re-sign him to a team-friendly deal and gear up for another Super Bowl run.
Keenan Allen, WR
Obviously, Khalil Shakir plays the slot and just received a big extension. Keenan Allen also fits best in the slot, however this is a team that still needs a big playmaker at the position. A veteran such as Allen could come in and line up outside if need be, or inside when Shakir is elsewhere. Regardless, Allen's veteran presence, savvy route running and sure hands would be a huge asset to this team.
More Bills news:
The toughest part about getting Allen is due to the fact that he's been pretty outspoken about playing for the Bears, again, or going back to the Los Angeles Chargers. It seems more likely that he ends up back in L.A., but you cannot deny the fact that having a sure-handed veteran like Allen could be exactly what this offense needs.
Picture Allen doing what we all had hoped Amari Cooper would have been able to do.
Armon Watts, DT
The Bills could use some more depth across their defensive line, and going out to find a player who still has plenty left to offer and also wouldn't have to travel far makes a lot of sense. Armon Watts would come cheap and he most recently played for the New York Giants.
The 28-year-old is a much better pass rusher than he is against the run game, so getting him in Buffalo as a situational depth piece would be a perfect fit. He didn't play a whole lot last year and suffered a knee injury in December, but if he's healthy, Watts is the perfect low-risk signing.
