One pending free agent that will be heavily coveted in free agency is Indianapolis Colts wide receiver, Alec Pierce. Unless the Colts bring him back, Pierce is set to cash in this free agency period and the Bills may not have a ton of cap space right now, but they have a massive need at wide receiver.

The Bills don’t get great separation ability out of their current receivers and Brandon Beane has to do a better job than what he has tried to do with this position the last two seasons. Last offseason, the Bills signed Joshua Palmer because he managed to show some separation ability when he was with the Chargers. Clearly, his first year in Buffalo was not successful at all.

While the Bills are still in the negative cap space-wise, Beane can make the necessary adjustments to fix that and create room to add playmakers to surround Josh Allen with. One of those players is Pierce, who Greg Auman from FOX Sports predicted that Pierce could sign with the Bills this free agency period.

Bills projected to sign WR Alec Pierce in free agency (and it makes sense)

"Pierce is likely to command $20 million a year as an underrated player who could be utilized more — Ja'Marr Chase had 101 more targets in 2025 than Pierce did, but only 409 more yards than the Colts wide receiver." said Auman.

For the past two seasons, Pierce has averaged over 20 yards per reception and he managed to reach over 1,000 yards this past season. He has definitely earned himself a nice payday. Not to mention, he is entering the prime of his career so he could really help a contender like the Bills get over the top in the playoffs.

While we haven’t seen the Bills throw the ball a lot down the field under Joe Brady, you also have to consider the weapons that Allen and the Bills have had to work with. There wasn’t a true deep threat that would open up the field and get the offense into scoring territory off of a huge play.

If Pierce does indeed hit free agency, the Bills must atleast make the call to see if there is an interest and then work out the financials. Adding someone like Pierce immediately boosts Buffalo’s wide receiving core and it gives Pierce stability at quarterback, something that he hasn’t had in his career in Indianapolis.
