Former Buffalo Bills edge rusher Von Miller, who was released this past offseason after a forgettable 2.5 years in Western New York has found a new home for the 2025 season. According to Tom Pelissero, Miller has signed with the Washington Commanders. Miller also posted it on his Instagram account where he is wearing a Commanders photoshopped jersey.

Adam Schefter reported that the Commanders and Miller are in agreement on a one-year deal and are “finalizing terms”.

Miller is joining the Commanders, who are coming off a shockingly successful 2024 season where they made it to the NFC championship game but then lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, who eventually won the Super Bowl. Being on the backend of his career, Miller is having belief that the Commanders can continue their success from last season and make another serious run at the Super Bowl.

Von Miller signing with Commanders should be no surprise

It’s not a surprise to see Miller signing with a top team that has championship aspirations with a rising star quarterback in Jayden Daniels on a rookie deal. With this addition, the Commanders are getting a veteran who has won two Super Bowls and has had a lot of success throughout his career.

While most of Miller’s success came early on in his career with the Denver Broncos and then eventually with the Los Angeles Rams, his tenure in Buffalo was a bust at the end of the day. No one should be surprised that the Bills took a major gamble by swinging for the fences when they signed Miller to a six-year deal. However, a torn ACL in 2022 was the start of the downhill production of Miller over the next two seasons.

In three seasons with the Bills, Miller had just 14 sacks (having none in 2023) and he never played a full season with the team. He became just a rotation player at one point and his Hall of Fame presence was not shown with the Bills (other than early on in 2022).

The only way the Bills will face off against Miller is if both Buffalo and Washington make it to the Super Bowl. So unless we get that Super Bowl matchup, the Bills won’t be facing off against Miller.
