Instead of focusing on the offseason as far as roster building and figuring out what needs to be changed, the Buffalo Bills decided to take a route that now puts them in a completely different direction. Early Monday morning, the Bills decided it was time to make a change at the top and they fired Sean McDermott.

Brandon Beane and Terry Pegula will reportedly speak with the media at 10am this morning per Matt Bove, so we will learn more about the vision that they have for the team moving forward.

While fans are still accepting the fact that McDermott is no longer the coach, the attention now has to turn to who will be interviewing for the open vacancy. Adam Schefter reported Wednesday morning that Buffalo will be interviewing a familiar face this coming Saturday. The Bills will be interviewing current Commanders run game coordinator, Anthony Lynn.

Lynn was with the Bills from 2015-2016 under Rex Ryan as the running backs coach and offensive coordinator. After Ryan was fired, Lynn was the interim head coach for the Bills in their final game of the season where Buffalo lost 30-10 to close out that season. After that, Sean McDermott was hired.

Bills set to interview Anthony Lynn for open HC vacancy

Since his first time in Buffalo, Lynn went on to be the head coach of the Chargers for the next four seasons, posting a record of 33-31 that included two winning seasons. Since then, he has been with the Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, and is currently with the Commanders.

In addition to Lynn, the Bills will also talk with Joe Brady and have also requested to speak with former offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, per Dianna Russini. Mike Garafolo then reported that the Bills have requested to interview Colts' defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo.

Buffalo is going to have to be somewhat fast with this process as they are behind. Four other teams have already filled their vacancies, and the Bills have to make sure they hit a home run with this hire. A lot of fans are still in shock that McDermott was fired considering the success he brought on the field and the impact he made in the community.

Whoever the Bills decide to bring will have some big shoes to fill and find a way to gain the fanbases’ trust.
