Little did we all know that the New England Patriots, you know…the team that went 8-26 from 2023-2024 and lost the AFC East to the Buffalo Bills in 2020, are now back in the Super Bowl. In Mike Vrabel’s first year as the head coach and just in Drake Maye’s second year as the quarterback, the Patriots are miles ahead of schedule. Now, the Bills will have tough competition each season in their own division.
While it’s bad enough to see Sam Darnold as the first 2018 draft class quarterback start in the Super Bowl ahead of guys like Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Baker Mayfield, it’s even worse that the Bills and their fans now have to watch potentially another start to a New England dynasty.
Buffalo and New England split the season series with each other this past season, but the Patriots won the division after Buffalo completely crumbled in the middle of the season to give New England the lead early on.
The last thing Bills fans want to see is another Patriots Super Bowl win. For nearly two decades, Bills fans have watched the Patriots beat them down and win six Super Bowls under Tom Brady. It was bad enough then, and it better not start up again.
The good news is that the Patriots will finally play an actually tough opponent for once this postseason. In the first round, they had the Chargers who had so many injuries to deal with especially on the offensive line. Not to mention, the Pats didn’t score a touchdown until the 4th quarter.
Then they hosted the Houston Texans who were down Nico Collins on offense, and C.J. Stroud had one of the worst performances from a quarterback in recent memory. Then going into the AFC Championship game, they didn’t have to worry about Bo Nix as he was recovering from a broken ankle he suffered against the Bills. Instead, they had Jarret Stidham, who did not throw a regular season pass in the last few seasons. Yet, the Patriots only won 10-7.
Now, they will get a real opponent with the Seattle Seahawks, who have one of the best defenses in the league, and an offense that seems nearly unstoppable at times. If the Seahawks can beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl, it will be music to Bills Mafia's ears.
Very early Super Bowl prediction has Bills fans laughing at Patriots
Lou Scataglia from NFL Spin Zone put an early score prediction for the Super Bowl and Scataglia has the Seahawks winning, 30-17 which includes Sam Darnold winning the Super Bowl MVP award.
While almost no one expected New England to be in the Super Bowl, credit is due to their ability to overcome doubters. At the same time, Bills fans are not ready for another New England Super Bowl. The fact that they drafted two quarterbacks and had two head coaches come in and still make the Super Bowl before the Bills is extremely frustrating.
It looks like Bills fans will have to hope that Darnold can pull it off and become the first quarterback of the 2018 draft class to win a ring, if it means that New England doesn't.
