DJ Moore listed as Bills' most overrated player ahead of 2026 (and it's laughable)

We got jokes now, huh?

The Buffalo Bills landing DJ Moore from the Chicago Bears was a splash move that they needed to make. Josh Allen did not have a true No. 1 receiver for the last two seasons, and the offense hurt badly at times because of it. No matter how much Allen would carry the Bills, there were plenty of instances where the offense played a huge role in losing because they couldn’t move the ball through the air.

With adding Moore, the Bills offense gets a go-to receiver for Allen on the outside, and Moore gets some continuity from his days in Carolina when Joe Brady was the offensive coordinator.

DJ Moore gave Bills fans early preview of what could come

We already saw a preview on what Moore could bring to the Bills in last Saturday’s preseason win over the Carolina Panthers. Moore was targeted four times, and brought in 3 catches for 61 yards which included a 32-yard reception where he was wide open in his route. He and Allen showed a glimpse of a lot of promise to where there's a chance that they could be the next great QB/WR duo.

Even though the Bills needed to make a splash to improve their wide receiver room, there are some people who may think that the addition of Moore won't bring a huge impact that a lot of fans are hoping for.

Jake Beckman of FanSided.com is one of them, as Moore was listed as the Bills’ most overrated player going into the 2026 season, and it seems silly to have Moore being listed considering the fact that he’s never played a down for the Bills in the regular season.

"There was a time when D.J. Moore was awesome. From 2019 to 2023, he was an absolute weapon, averaging 81 catches, 1,155 yards, and 5.4 touchdowns in those five seasons. Now, though? Not so much." Beckman said.

"Don’t get me wrong: He’s still good, and he’s going to be the most talented wide receiver that Josh Allen has had since Stefon Diggs left after the 2023 season. I’m sure he’ll end up having a solid year where he gets 75+ catches and over 1,000 yards, and depending on his red-zone usage, he’ll probably have a decent number of touchdown catches … But all of that is going to be more of a ‘Josh Allen is throwing to capable pass catchers’ thing rather than a ‘Moore is an elite receiver’ thing." Beckman added.

DJ Moore is far from being most overrated player on Bills

First, it’s important to note that Moore’s first year in Chicago (with Justin Fields throwing him the ball), he set career-highs with 1,364 yards and 8 touchdowns. Since then, the Bears have added a ton of different weapons like Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III, and Colston Loveland. Oh, and let's not forget, Caleb Williams has only played in the league for two seasons as Chicago's quarterback.

By the way, the Bears also brought in a new head coach in Ben Johnson, whose offensive scheme didn't fit what Moore what could bring.

Now with Moore back with Brady in Buffalo, it's the perfect fit for both Moore and the team. The only player that Moore could realistically compete for targets with is Dalton Kincaid. Khalil Shakir could still get his looks, but not more than Moore. Everyone knows that Moore is the go-to receiver for Allen, and it would not surprise any Bills fan if Moore has a career-like year in his first year in Bills blue.
