There are so many variables that come into play when it comes to an offense being successful. The most obvious factor that goes into it is having a star quarterback. The Buffalo Bills have no issue in that area as Josh Allen is the one commanding the offense. After showing occasional highlights in his first two seasons, Allen has emerged as the best quarterback in the league.

A lot of people might then say that the second variable is the supporting cast around the quarterback, specifically the weapons he has. It’s a fair question, especially since the Bills fans have had to endure some bad football due to the lack of consistent high-level wide receiver play.

However, the next variable is actually the quarterback’s protection that’s in front of him known as the offensive line. For the past two seasons, the Bills have had one of the best units in the league simply because of continuity. One player that stands out for them is their franchise left tackle, Dion Dawkins, who was given praise from Lou Scataglia from NFL Spin Zone in a recent power ranking list.

Dion Dawkins ranked as one of the best LTs heading into 2026 (but it's a little lower than fans were hoping for)

Scataglia created a list of the Top 8 left tackles entering the 2026 season and Dawkins made it onto the list, but only at No. 7 ahead of Rashawn Slater from the Los Angeles Chargers.

"Dion Dawkins is a better pass blocker than run blocker, but what has made him so good is how long he's sustained this high level of play. Dawkins is a five-time Pro Bowler who has started double-digit games in each year of his career. He's played nine years in the NFL and already has well over 150 total starts between the regular and postseason." said Scataglia.

They say that one of the best abilities a player can have is availability, and that is one of Dawkins’ best things he has offered. Since 2017, he hasn’t missed more than two games in a game. That is purely incredible.

As Scataglia stated, Dawkins is one of the best pass protectors in the league and he has helped keep Josh Allen upright against his blindside. No one can deny that Dawkins is one of the best in the game, but to rank him a little low on in these power rankings is a bit disrespectful considering the accomplishments he has and how well he plays year-in and year-out.

He is a key franchise player that has been part of the turnaround in Buffalo, and he continues to play at a high level. I would make the argument that he is at worst, a Top 5 left tackle in the game.
