While the Buffalo Bills were adding help to their wide receiver room this offseason, they saw one of their division rivals starting from the ground up after cleaning house in the coaching staff and the roster. They saw the Miami Dolphins part ways with multiple players, including wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.
Hill was released, and Waddle ended up being traded to the Denver Broncos, as well as a 2026 4th-round pick, in exchange for three picks in 2026 which included a first round pick. Denver gave up a nice haul, but they got a new No. 1 for Bo Nix while he is still on his rookie deal.
That was one of the biggest moves of the offseason, as the Broncos needed to upgrade their wide receiver room after making it to the AFC championship game. With a new offensive coordinator in Davis Webb, Denver’s offense will be looking to take the next step forward.
When it comes to Webb, this isn’t the first time that he has seen a team that he is on make a blockbuster trade to acquire a top wide receiver. When he was a player, he spent three seasons with the Bills and was apart of the team when they made a huge trade to land Stefon Diggs from the Minnesota Vikings.
Everyone knows how that trade worked out for the Bills, as they turned into instant contenders and Josh Allen took a fast rise to becoming one of the best quarterbacks in the league.
Davis Webb compares Broncos adding Jaylen Waddle to Bills adding Stefon Diggs back in 2020
Webb spoke with the media covering the Broncos in which he “said it reminds him a bit of Josh Allen going into Year 3 in Buffalo when they acquired Stefon Diggs" per Parker Gabriel of the Denver Post.

Even though things between the Bills and Diggs ended a little rough, there is no denying the early sparks that they had together in four seasons. Without the addition of Diggs, Allen and the Bills wouldn’t have become the contenders that they are today. While all good things eventually come to an end, Buffalo had some great memories with Diggs in Bills blue.
The Broncos will be hoping that Waddle can have the same effect with Bo Nix and the offense. Buffalo travels to Denver this season for a Christmas showdown, so they will see firsthand how much Nix and Waddle can click in their first year playing together.
