Up to this point, the Buffalo Bills have made some solid defensive additions to their new look defense under Jim Leonhard. While they have lost a good amount of players, they have gained three players that could make an immediate impact. First they signed CB Dee Alford, and then they brought in OLB Bradley Chubb, and S C.J. Gardner-Johnson.

Going from a 4-2-5 scheme to now a 3-4 look, the Bills needed to find the right players who can do some damage against an offense.

On offense, their biggest acquisition was trading for wide receiver D.J. Moore from the Chicago Bears which gives Josh Allen a true No. 1 wideout in the offense.

Right now, the most impactful moves that the Bills have made have been bringing in Chubb on defense and Moore on the offense. Both players have had had a similar path in their careers. The Bills are their third team of their careers, and they both came from the same 2018 NFL draft class along with Allen. Now, all three are in Western New York.

While the Bills still have to make some necessary improvements on both sides of the ball, the Chubb and Moore gains has caught the attention of Colin Cowherd from The Herd, and for good reasons.

Colin Cowherd ranks Bills high on rankings list heading into NFL Draft season

Cowherd put together a top ten list of teams going into the NFL Draft next month, based on the coaching hires and free agency moves. On Cowherd’s list, he has the Bills at No. 4 and he mainly talked about how the acquisitions of Chubb and Moore are extremely valuable.

[Bradley] Chubb and D.J. Moore, to me, are some really nice B+ added elements. Buffalo at No. 4”. said Cowherd. Cowherd went into how Chubb is a “sneaky and smart signing” for Buffalo, and also talked about Moore “is still a No. 1” and never misses starts.

Chubb and Moore are quality veterans who have had success in this league. Chubb knows the AFC East as he joined the Bills from the Miami Dolphins, and Moore is familiar with Joe Brady from their days down in Carolina.

They may not be the flashiest acquisitions, but they could very well be some of the most impactful in 2026 and Bills fans should be more than excited to see them on the field in Bills blue.
