The 2025 NFL Draft coverage is already under way and it will be a heavy topic once the regular season comes to an end. The fight for the first overall pick is still on and if the New England Patriots lose this Sunday to the Buffalo Bills, they will have the first pick come in April.
The Bills, once again, will have to wait quite sometime before they are on the clock (assuming that they don’t trade up). Being a successful team and making the playoffs puts a team in a long wait when the draft rolls around. The Bills haven’t held a top-ten pick since 2019 where they selected Ed Oliver.
Since 2021, the Bills have drafted Greg Rousseau, Kaiir Elam, and Dalton Kincaid in the later part of the first round. In 2020 and this past offseason, the Bills did not draft in the first round.
With Buffalo set to enter the playoffs, they will once again have a later first-round pick and will have to wait to see who falls to them. There are many avenues the Bills could take. Maybe they go defensive line, cornerback, or even wide receiver if they don’t re-sign Amari Cooper and/or Mack Hollins.
Latest CBS Sports NFL mock draft misses bad on Bills projection
Josh Edwards from CBS Sports put together a recent mock draft where the Bills, at No. 29, select Ohio State offensive lineman, Donovan Jackson. Adding linemen, whether it’s on offense or defense is never a bad thing, but the last thing the Bills need is to spend a first round pick on a position that they don’t need whatsoever.
"Buffalo will almost certainly use a first-round pick on the offensive or defensive lines. A week ago, the choice was defense and now we are trying on some offensive possibilities to see how it may fit. Donovan Jackson would play guard, but has the flexibility to play tackle in a pinch.Josh Edwards, CBS Sports

From left to right, the Bills have Dion Dawkins, David Edwards, Connor McGovern, O’Cyrus Torrence, and Spencer Brown. All of whom are under contract for the 2025 season. They are one of, if not the best offensive line in football. They’ve only allowed 14 sacks and have allowed James Cook to run wild this season.
Anything can happen in the NFL Draft, but one thing for sure that won’t is the Bills spending a first round pick on an offensive lineman. Instead, they should prioritize getting help on defense.
