The bye week is up next for the Buffalo Bills after their 33-30 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. It was the best win, but they definitely woke up in the second half to close out their two-week West Coast trip on a high note.
It was closer than fans may have hoped for, and it came with some bad moments which included in the second quarter when C.J. Gardner-Johnson, who had been playing badly early in the game, was ejected before halftime. It looked as if Gardner-Johnson had spit on tight end Brock Bowers which led to the ejection, hurting the Bills' secondary even more.
C.J. Gardner-Johnson's ejection put Bills in tough spot
Not only was this a bad look on Gardner-Johnson, but it put the Bills' defense in a tougher position than they already were. His penalty (along with a holding penalty) allowed the Raiders to stay on the field and get 3 points as the first half expired, tying the game 13-13.
After his ejection, we saw a lot of Damar Hamlin and Jalon Kilgore in the secondary and they didn't provide much help either. At one point, the Raiders had a chance for a comeback after Kirk Cousins launched a 44-yard touchdown pass to Tre Tucker to bring the Raiders within 1. The pass was over the top of the Bills' defense which was the unfortunate theme of the Bills' defense.
Even though the Bills came away with this win and are going into their bye week, Joe Brady has a tough situation to deal with and it will say a lot about his leadership with what the Bills decide to do (if they do anything at all).
Joe Brady says C.J. Gardner-Johnson incident will be addressed
After the game, Brady told the media that he will look at the incident on video and that "it's going to be addressed and the team is way more important." per Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News.
Bills coach Joe Brady said that he had yet to see the incident that led to C.J. Gardner-Johnson's ejection.

"It’s going to be addressed and the team is way more important."
Joe Brady's style is much different than Sean McDermott's. Brady is more of a players coach in a sense of letting the players be who they are, which comes with benefits and consequences. With Gardner-Johnson, for as talented as he is, there is also a reason why he's been on six different teams since 2019, which includes three since 2025.
HIs character has always been questioned wherever he has been, and now the Bills face a challenge with him after this ejection incident. While the NFL could step in and implement a suspension, we will see what actions Brady will take and it will say a lot about him with whatever he decides to do (or even not do).
