Week 3 will begin for the Buffalo Bills this Thursday night as they and the Miami Dolphins will clash in Orchard Park. The Bills are feeling great at 2-0, having won a game in comeback fashion and then in a dominating fashion. As for the Dolphins, well, things could be better and they really can’t get much worse than what they have experienced through two games.

Division games are always the best because both teams are familiar with each other. However, in this case, the Dolphins are going to have to find a way to not only get their first win of the season, but they will be looking to do it against a team that they have only beaten twice since 2018.

Going into this matchup, there are two old friends that the Bills will see that used to play in Buffalo and were solid contributors. One of them has been away from Buffalo for a little bit while the other one was just with the Bills last season.

Bills set to see some old friends in Week 3 primetime matchup

LB Tyrel Dodson

Linebacker Tyrel Dodson began his NFL career with the Bills back in 2020 and played as a starter his last season in Buffalo. Dodson put up great numbers in 2023 with 74 total tackles and 6 QB hits. Dodson left after 2023 and signed with the Seattle Seahawks, but was released by Seattle before getting picked up by Miami.

CB Rasul Douglas

The Bills traded for Rasul Douglas in the middle of the 2023 season from the Green Bay Packers when they were dealing with a bunch of injuries at cornerback. Douglas came into Buffalo and became an immediate contributor. He brought stability to the secondary and while he was solid in 2024, he did regress a bit.

Instead of bringing him back, the Bills opted to extend Christian Benford, bring back Tre’Davious White, and draft three cornerbacks in the draft. There was no way he was coming back to Buffalo. Right before the start of the season, Douglas made the decision to sign with the Dolphins and be the only somewhat decent corner that they have.
