Buffalo Bills have prime opportunity to continue dominance of 49ers in Week 13
By Brandon Ray
After a restful weekend, the Buffalo Bills will be back in action this coming weekend at home. After a hard-fought win in Week 11 over the Kansas City Chiefs, the Bills are set to host their Super Bowl opponent from last season, the San Francisco 49ers. It’s been a funky season for the 49ers, who are currently in 4th place in the NFC West at 5-6 along with the Los Angeles Rams.
Buffalo and San Francisco are both completely different ends of the season. The Bills are riding a six-game winning streak, while the 49ers have dropped their last two games and were completely embarrassed by the Green Bay Packers this past week.
Out-of-conference games don’t make the biggest impact on the teams involved, but the Bills have a little bit of a path to get to the #1 seed. Even though they beat the Chiefs to clinch the tiebreaker advantage, Kansas City is one game ahead of them at 10-1 (but should really be 9-2 after a horrendous performance against the Panthers).
The start of the path to the top seed started two weeks ago for the Bills and their next challenge will be to defeat the underwhelming 49ers.
Bills have chance to continue dominance of 49ers in Week 13
According to Pro Football Reference, the Bills currently lead the 49ers in their head-to-head all-time matchups, leading 7-6 and Buffalo has taken the last two games. The Bills have won by a combined scored of 79-40. The last time these two teams met, it was during the COVID-19 season where the Bills won 34-24 and Josh Allen had a QB rating of 139.1, passed for 375 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Nick Mullens, not Jimmy Garoppolo, was under center for the 49ers that game and there might be a slight chance that Buffalo may face another San Francisco backup. Quarterback Brandon Allen was the starter for the 49ers and it was a miserable sighting for 49ers fans.
Brock Purdy had a shoulder injury that kept him out of action this past weekend, but signs are pointing towards him playing against a tough Buffalo defense.
Despite the 49ers being at 5-6, they can still play tough football. The Bills have yet to lose a game after the bye week under Sean McDermott but the 49ers have the chance to give them a surprising loss this weekend. However, Buffalo is looking to continue to dominate the 49ers once again in front of Bills Mafia.
Get ready Bills fans, we’ve got Bills football this coming Sunday night.
