The Buffalo Bills have established themselves as one of the best organizations in the NFL for the better part of the last decade. Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott have been a solid duo together since 2017 and they have managed to build a culture that emphasizes team-first mentality and delivering results to Bills Mafia and the Buffalo community.
For a long time, the Bills were a mess. They were going through head coaches and quarterbacks like it was a requirement every 2-3 years. Now, the Bills don’t have to worry about that now or for the foreseeable future. The same thing can’t be said for other teams, much like the New York Jets specifically.
Within the AFC East alone, the Jets are the biggest laughing stock and it’s not even close. While the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots have their issues that they have to sort out, they along with the Bills are miles ahead of the Jets.
Since 2001, the Jets have had five full-time general managers (and one interim this past season with Phil Savage). Since 2000, they have had seven full-time coaches (including one interim in 2024 with Jeff Ulbrich).
They once again have a new regime with Darren Mougey and Aaron Glenn who are being brought in to fix the Jets from the ground up. So far, they are off to a great start by moving on from Aaron Rodgers. Ian Rapoport reported this past Thursday that the Jets officially let Rodgers know he would not be part of the team in 2025. However, it appears that Rodgers was not ready to move on from the Jets during those conversations.
Aaron Rodgers reportedly pleaded with Jets to stay in New York for a little longer
According to Ryan Dunleavy and Steve Helling, Rodgers “pleaded with the Jets to give one or two more years”. The Jets were smart and decided to rip the bandaid off and start heading into a different direction.
Rodgers is very well-known in the NFL, for both great and not so great reasons. His commitment has been questioned the last couple of years and he hasn’t been the player he once was when he was with the Packers. From the outside, it looked like he was running the show in New York and that the Jets had to bend over backwards to make him happy.
With this new regime coming into New York, the Jets finally didn’t make a screw up for once but seeing this report of Rodgers basically begging to stay with the Jets is absolutely hilarious. He is nearing the end of his career and he still may want to play. The fact that the Jets, who are going into a major rebuild and have no plan at quarterback are opting to leave him behind his beyond funny.
