It feels like forever since the Buffalo Bills made a free agency move, but now they are back on the board. According to Ian Rapoport, the Bills are bringing in three offensive free agents in OLs Austin Corbett and Lloyd Cushenberry III, as well as WR Trent Sherfield.

Prior to these three signings, the Bills had been strategic with their additions with most of them being on the defensive side of the ball. Their one true offensive free agent signing up until this point was bringing in backup quarterback Kyle Allen. Now, the Bills get some quality depth on the offensive line and a veteran wide receiver who played with the Bills back in 2023.

Bills are back on free agency board with key offensive depth additions

With Sherfield, he has been a journeyman throughout his career and he was with the Bills in 2023 where he only had 11 catches for 86 yards and a touchdown that was due to a batted ball in the air against the Miami Dolphins in Week 18 that ultimately helped the Bills win the AFC East from Miami.

Since that season, Sherfield has been with the Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, and Arizona Cardinals. He will now come back to Buffalo where he is somewhat familiar with the offensive scheme that Joe Brady has. Sherfield was part of that offense when Brady took over for Ken Dorsey in the middle of the season.

For the offensive line depth, Cushenberry comes to Buffalo with six years of experience having played with the Denver Broncos and Tennessee Titans. After being drafted by the Broncos in 2020 and playing there for four season, Cushenberry signed a four-year deal with the Titans to become the anchor of the offensive line. He only lasted two seasons there and with a new coaching regime, he was released.

Corbett comes to Western New York having been drafted in the same draft class as Josh Allen, where he was drafted by the Cleveland Browns and has also been with both the Los Angeles Rams and Carolina Panthers. He is versatile and can play both guard and center if needed. Versatility is a key component for the Bills and now he may compete with Alec Anderson for the left guard spot on the offensive line, that used to belong to David Edwards.

There is still plenty of work to be done but bringing in these three players is solid depth signing and it signals that there will be true competition in training camp. Sherfield has a serious chance at making the roster mainly as a special teams contributor, and I would not rule out seeing Corbett and Cushenberry on this roster come September.
