There is no doubt that the Buffalo Bills’ offense runs through Josh Allen, but without the help of James Cook, the offense for sure wouldn’t be as dynamic as it can be. Since taking over as the starter in 2023, Cook has worked his way up to become one of the best backs in football.
He had his breakout season last year which led to a contract extension in the summer, and now he has once again shined for the Bills. He has rushed for 1,415 yards and 10 touchdowns. You could make the argument that there are games where he is Buffalo’s most valuable player.
This season, the Bills have only lost one game when Cook rushes for over 100 yards. They have won seven out of ten games when Cook does hit the century mark. He just crossed 100 yards this past week against the Patriots in Buffalo’s comeback win. Cook has a great chance to get over 100 yards once again on the ground this coming week in Cleveland.
James Cook set to have another successful day on ground vs. Browns
The Browns’ run-defense has given up over 100 yards in seven games so far, so definitely not the worst, but since their bye week in Week 9, they have given up 125+ rushing yards in four out of their last six games.
Against the Ravens and Titans, Cleveland has given up 184 yards on the ground to each team. Then just this past week, they gave up 142 yards on the ground to the Bears.
If the Bills are able to get ahead of the Browns early on in the game, then James Cook should easily have himself yet another great day for himself. Heck, he may even find early on success if the Bills can establish the run right out of the gate.
