The Kansas City Chiefs are the Buffalo Bills’ biggest challenge to reaching the Super Bowl. In every postseason except for one this decade, Buffalo has experienced a loss in the playoffs at the hands of the Chiefs. It’s only a matter of time before the Bills get past the Chiefs…however, we have to start to realize that the only way to get past Kansas City in the playoffs is to hope that the Bills don’t have to play the Chiefs.
The Bills have only lost one game by more than one possession against the Chiefs in the playoffs since 2021. Buffalo is built to beat the Chiefs, but Kansas City always makes one more better play that puts them ahead. Until the Chiefs go down in the playoffs, we can’t sit here and say that the Bills are better than the Chiefs.
Sure, you could say that Buffalo has the more dynamic quarterback and even the better overall roster. However, the Chiefs play better situational football and that will win you a game every single time.
Now, imagine a world where the Chiefs don’t make it to the AFC championship game…every year since the 2019-2019 season, the Chiefs have always made it to the conference championship game. They’ve only lost twice to Tom Brady and the Patriots, and Joe Burrow and the Bengals. On the other hand, they have beaten the Bills twice in that game.
Essentially, Bills fans can almost expect to run into the Chiefs as late as the conference title game. If Kansas City doesn’t make that game, it would be quite the shock.
What’s even a bigger is imaging a world where the Chiefs don’t even make the playoffs. It seems like that they are always going to be in the playoffs as long as Patrick Mahomes is under center. However, Jason McIntyre from The Herd believes that the Chiefs will not make the playoffs next season.

Jason McIntyre's bold claim about Chiefs could come back to haunt him
As Bills fans, we would absolutely love to see the playoffs start and the Chiefs not be part of the playoff picture. At the same time, unless a big time injury happens to the Chiefs, you should expect to see them in the playoffs. Not to mention, there hasn’t been any team in the AFC West that has been a serious challenge to the Chiefs.
McIntyre went into detail about how the Chiefs’ “best offseason move” was the acquisition of offensive tackle Jaylon Moore who should slide into the left tackle spot to protect Mahomes. Moore hasn’t been a starter before, but he has had the benefit of learning from Trent Williams when he was with the 49ers.
Then again, you can learn everything to be the best but it only matters on how you produce on the field. Kansas City is taking a huge risk with the signing of Moore.
At the end of the day, the Chiefs definitely had a very underwhelming offseason but as long as Mahomes is under center and in his prime, fans can always expect Kansas City in the playoffs and going far. As for Bills fans specifically, all that we can do is just hang on to hope that Josh Allen and the Bills can take down their biggest obstacle that is known as the Kansas City Chiefs.
