The Buffalo Bills have owned a history of ugly injury reports to start their past few seasons; Their 2026 Week 1 matchup against the Houston Texans breaks that streak. They open the year with a lowly three names on the injury report. It hasn't looked that clean in many, many years.

TheĀ final Friday injury report, per the Bills' PR X account, is in. Let's break it down.

Game Status: QUESTIONABLE

The lone defensive back on the injury report, Jordan Hancock saw some issues during training camp and preseason. Though a valuable depth piece last season, Hancock enjoyed a successful offseason, and has expectations of a regular role when healthy. For now, the second-year DB ramps up to play.

RB Ty Johnson - Hamstring

Game Status: QUESTIONABLE

Ty Johnson was the prospective RB3 this time a year ago, but the adjustment of role for Ray Davis put him into a higher-volume position. Now, his name on the injury report is genuinely impactful. Though his progress indicates he's close to a return, he hasn't practiced since the Return of the Red and Blue in early August.

His playing wouldn't be a surprise, but there's no need to rush it for a Week 1 matchup out of the AFC East. Still, for what it's worth, Ty Johnson did not have a non-contact jersey on in practice.

DL T.J. Sanders - Knee

Game Status: QUESTIONABLE

T.J. Sanders has had an excellent offseason- He wasn't initially destined for a starting role yet he's proven capable of owning it if he opportunity arises. His knee injury is new, unfortunately, but not anything too serious.

It's not an indomitable loss, but T.J. Sanders has been a legitimate contributor. Missing the showcase for the new-look Buffalo Bills defense would make it hard to gauge his worth. However, he goes into this game at a true questionable.

Bills Injury Report Summary

The Bills have no obvious replacement for Jordan Hancock if he misses gameday, but the practice squad is chock full of adequate fill-ins. CB Kani Walker and S Geno Stone are the first two names to come to mind, and the probable call-up would likely be either of them. Barring injuries above them, it wouldn't be consequential to the matchup against the Houston Texans.

Ty Johnson has an immediate swap available in the form of Frank Gore Jr. Not only is Gore healthy, he has chemistry with the entire offense, and solves the issue without friction.

T.J. Sanders is a problem if he misses time, but the Bills have no shortage of capable interior defensive linemen. Without making roster moves, they will manage.
